There were 17 West Ottawa Tennis players in the gym lifting on Monday, November 14. Fourteen of them were with our group, three others lifted with other sports. These are our best numbers yet. We weighed in on Monday, and 8 individuals gained a pound in the first week! We will lift Wednesday and Friday as well. All WO tennis players are welcome to come on out and join us!

Thanks to all the players who spent the weekend playing at the MAC Challenger. There were 6 West Ottawa players entered, and they did a great job. Congrats to Lucas Driesenga, who won the back draw of the Boys 16's. He won 4 consecutive matches to accomplish this, beating the #4 seed along the way. Congrats also to Nick Schnobel for advancing to the Semi-Finals of the Boys 14's. There were over 20 kids in his draw, so making the final four is quite an accomplishment. Nick beat the #2 seed, the #7 seed, and took the eventual champion to a third set breaker.
A reminder to everyone that week two of lifting begins tomorrow (Monday, November 14) after school from 3-4 PM. Tomorrow will be our 2nd weigh-in day. Remember what you weighed in at last week. Hopefully we have all reached our goals for the week. Keep eating to meet your goals! -Coach Schwallier Thanks for everyone who came out today (Wednesday, November 9). There were a Dozen of us lifting together. Our next lift will be Friday, the 11th, after school. As usual, we will lift from 3-4pm. Remember to keep eating healthy foods and to eat an appropriate amount of food to meet your goals.
-Coach Schwallier Today was day one of tennis off-season lifting. Here's an overview of what happened:
1. There were 8 of us there. 2. We Squatted, Benched, Overhead-Pressed, and did Bent-Rows. 3. We all weighed in and made a plan to gain our first pound of muscle! (I am currently 176.7 pounds. By next Monday, my goal is to be 177.7!!!) Note: Jon Hoffman and Mark VanderStoep had tennis at Dewitt at 4pm, so they left at 3:35PM. (They are proof that you can get a full workout in by 3:35 and still make drills if you are smart about it.) Our next lift will be this Wednesday, November 9, from 3-4 PM. I'll see you there. All tennis players who don't have obligations after school -Coach Schwallier (How to earn extra browning points from Coach: Text him and tell him how many more calories than normal a person must eat per day to gain a pound over a week's time.) Date: Tuesday, November 1st
Time: 6-7:30pm Location: HS South Cafeteria Who is invited: All parents and players from the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams. Occasionally siblings like to go as well, and this is absolutely fine. Food: We will be asking each varsity family to bring a dessert and each JV family to bring something to drink. We may need more desserts. Larry A. Great job guys,
The tournament is concluded and you took 8th place with 11 points. This is the best finish for the team since 2006, and I couldn't be more impressed with the effort you all gave to make it happen.
